Homework

Parents will receive details about homework at our Back to School night in September as well as through teacher correspondence. The elementary school years are the foundation for establishing effective study skills and responsibility. Please support your child in developing these important habits by ensuring that your student has a quiet place to complete homework, turns in assignments on time, and that you check the quality of their work. Praise your child for a job well done for his or her effort in school and on homework!

Homework

Purpose of homework:

  • Homework is practice

  • Homework is meant to review concepts that have been previously taught

Best practices to foster a love of learning in your home:

  • Read to your children every day

  • Model reading behavior by reading your own books, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, online articles, etc. and talk about what you are reading to your children

  • Have a designated time and place for homework, free of distractions and reasonably quiet

  • Discuss homework and current academic progress

  • Talk to your children about school. (for example, ask: What did you learn today? Can you show me what you learned today?)
